Craniosacral Therapy is an exceptionally gentle, yet extremely powerful and profound treatment. It works with a person's inherent self-healing powers, reorienting body and mind away from patterns of stress and distress back towards inherent health.

The Craniosacral Therapist uses a skilled touch to listen to what is happening in the body, identifying pains or tensions held within the body which can be causing pain or ill health.  The therapist listens to the gentle and natural motion of cerebrospinal fluid which surrounds the brain and spinal cord, a subtle tide-like movement. This motion eminates out to all organs and tissues within the body.

The craniosacral motion is so subtle that it is barely measurable with instruments, but a trained therapist is able to percieve it.  What is received by the therapist is automatically reflected back to the intelligence of the person's system.  This enables the body to soften, release and process any resistances and tension. Sometimes the body will release a restriction immediately sometimes it will take longer, it depends entirely on the system. Integration continues long after the session ends so its a good idea to give yourself time for the integration to occur.

Effects of the treatment vary according to what your body needs to process.  Treatment is frequently experienced as deep relaxation, warmth or sense of well-being. Some people have experienced changes in temperature, tingling, heaviness or lightness in limbs or wave like motions throughout the body.

Craniosacral Therapy works to support and enhance your body's own self-healing capacity therefore your body will set the pace of work and the priorities for action.  You will be comfortable and in control and able to integrate the changes which occur.

At the first treatment, a case history is taken which includes details of ilnesses, operations, accidents etc.  A treatment usually consists of lying fully clothed on a comfortable treatment couch and treatments usually last an hour. Typical places of contact are the feet, the head and the base of the spine.

The number and frequency of treatments required is dependent on your particular needs and how persistant or severe the condition is. I am happy to discuss any queries you may have about treatment.
